Diana Ramirez has called North Las Vegas home since she was 11 years old. Raised in a family rooted in service and community, she grew up watching her mother lead by example — starting a neighborhood program in the 1990s, right here in North Las Vegas to help minimize crime and bring neighbors together. Her mother was a housekeeper for over 20 years (Culinary Union member and liaison) and her father a hardworking construction worker. That early example of leadership, hard work, and compassion inspired Diana to dedicate her own life to building safer, stronger communities.
As a mother who has raised two children in this community, Diana understands the hopes and challenges local families face every day. Her leadership is shaped by real experience — not politics. Guided by her values of fairness, opportunity, and unity, she continues to advocate for a stronger, more connected city. As a proud Army stepmother and an Army aunt, Diana deeply values the sacrifices of our service members and their families. She is committed to supporting our military community and those who have served our country with respect and gratitude.
Diana attended Rancho High School, where she immersed herself in a variety of activities that shaped her leadership and community awareness. On the field and court, she developed teamwork, discipline, and resilience through sports. As a member of Student Council and the Yearbook team, where she served as Sports Editor, she learned the importance of organization, communication, and celebrating the achievements of others. Her involvement in Journalism honed her skills in storytelling, research, and critical thinking. Diana’s awareness of civic responsibility deepened when she attended Nevada Girl State, where she engaged with political leaders, participated in debates, and explored the inner workings of government — experiences that sparked a lifelong passion for serving her community and advocating for meaningful change.
“Becoming a mother was one of the most profound responsibilities and privileges in Diana’s life. She has always sought to raise children who are compassionate, courageous, and engaged in making their community a better place for future generations. Leading by example, Diana involved her children in neighborhood cleanups, community meetings, and service projects so they could witness firsthand the importance of giving back. She encourages them to participate in sports and assume leadership roles in school, teaching them discipline, teamwork, and initiative. She also encourages her children to travel the world to learn about all cultures and be welcoming of all people. Beyond accomplishments, she instilled values of character — opening doors for others, showing kindness to the elderly, befriending those who are alone, and using their voices to stand up for what is right. Diana taught them to respect leaders who earned it, while also questioning decisions and challenging injustice to help create meaningful change. Through these lessons, she has worked to equip her children — and, by extension, her community — with the tools to lead with integrity, compassion, and purpose.”
“Most of the time our children won’t remember what we say to them. That’s when leading by example is crucial and allowing them to partake in experiences that will last a lifetime.” ~ Diana Ramirez
